Coronation Street has teased viewers with a sneak peek of the enigmatic character suspected of murdering Lauren Bolton on the popular ITV soap.
The young teenager has been missing since February after an apparent attack in her flat left her severely injured.
Although she was not found at the crime scene and no body has been discovered, detectives are convinced she’s been murdered.
Until now, police have pointed the finger at her former employer Roy Cropper (David Nielson) and her former teacher Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard). Evidence of blood splatters and human tissue found in her flat suggest a severe blow to the head.

It didn’t take long before a bloody weapon was discovered by officers. While the soap hasn’t officially confirmed her fate, it appears she may indeed be dead – and we’re about to find out who killed her.
A special series of episodes airing next week will finally reveal what transpired on the night Lauren disappeared. Additionally, flashbacks will disclose her fate and finally identify her attacker.
In a newly released trailer, we revisit the flat on the night of her disappearance, where we see her screaming for help, visibly terrified and crying. As she attempts to flee, a mysterious man dressed in black is seen grabbing her, his gloved hand covering her mouth, reports the Mirror.

The subsequent events are yet to be broadcasted and will air next week. However, it’s likely to conclude with Lauren either dead or kidnapped, considering she’s been missing for months and her flat was found ransacked and blood-stained.
The upcoming episodes are said to be “unlike anything done” by the soap before, with a rollercoaster of twists and turns in store. The unfolding drama, involving key characters, is expected to pave the way for fresh storylines for the remainder of the year.
Executive Producer Iain MacLeod shared: “This week is so gripping and unlike anything Coronation Street has done before, in terms of the story-telling. It’s modern, really exciting and has some of our favourite characters right in the middle of the drama.
“The murder mystery around Lauren has had us all on the edge of our seats and the race against time across this week to solve it before Roy gets seriously hurt is so engrossing and cleverly plotted. It is also the launchpad for a massive new chapter in that narrative – so you really won’t want to miss it, if you want to carry on trying to piece together this thrilling puzzle!”
