Coronation Street fan have at last met DS Lisa Swain’s daughter – and she’s been recognised by many.
Newcomer Betsy is portrayed by 22-year-old drama school graduate actress Sydney Martin. In the tense Friday (June 28) episode of the ITV soap opera, fans were glued to their screens as DS Swain headed to a park to meet her daughter.
From their first encounter, the two immediately had a disagreement, resulting in Swain insisting that her daughter get in the car to head home. The big reveal came as a surprise to the audience when the young character appeared earlier this week.

Betsy, who is younger than Sydney, is close friends with Sabrina Adetiba (Luana Santos), the target of creepy lawyer Joel Deerings (Calum Lill) grooming scheme. Now known as Betsy, she quickly warned her friend about Joel’s disturbing behaviour, advising her to keep away.
She took his card and pretended to throw it away, while actually keeping it. Later, however, Betsy confronted Joel and tried to blackmail him. Warning Joel that she has a “big gob”, the newbie threatened to expose his unsavoury tendencies.
Appeasing the curiosity of viewers around why DS Swain’s relationship with her mum is so strained, and if Betsy plays any part in revealing Joel as Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) attacker remain to be seen.

Embracing her first television role, Sydney is familiar with posing for the camera, as her Instagram page currently boasts 1,588 followers and hosts pictures from luxury trips abroad and lovable family moments.
In one snap, the stunning blonde Sydney looks absolutely fabulous in a bright yellow frock at her graduation ball last summer. Clutching a glass and flashing a mega-watt smile for the camera, the latest addition to the Corrie cast is simply glowing.
Before bagging her role on the cobbles, Sydney graced the stage in various productions and starred in a flick titled ‘Assassins Guild’. She’s also chums with Hollyoaks’ fresh face Isabelle Smith, who’s currently slaying as Frankie Osbourne on the Channel 4 drama.
Underneath an Insta post where Sydney shared two pics from her drama school send-off, Isabelle gushed: “So proud of you! Love you forever xxx”. Corrie fans will have to wait and see the havoc Betsy will wreak in Weatherfield.
