EastEnders fans have ‘worked out’ who Sharon Watt’s son, Albie’s real father is – and it’s not Phil Mitchell
As fans will recall, Sharon (Letitia Dean) was left heartbroken last year when she found out fiancé Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) was not the father of Albie.
It was revealed that there was no way Keanu could have fathered the child with Sharon, as he lacked the gene that resulted in Albie’s Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AADT). The defect can lead to lung and liver problems and can only occur if both parents are carriers.

It then suddenly dawned on Sharon that former flame Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) was Albie’s father – despite a previous DNA test showing that Phil was not the dad.
Despite not telling Keanu, the truth came out on their wedding day – which led to Keanu nearly strangling Sharon, before Linda stepped in and stabbed him at the Queen Vic.
However, fans of the long-running BBC soap are still confused by Albie’s mysterious paternity – with viewers claiming Keanu and Phil are not his real dead.

Now, fans have shared their theories online – and one includes the potential return of Mitchell brother, Grant. The soap bad boy, played by Ross Kemp, had a rather tumultuous relationship with Sharon during his stint on the show.
He left in 1999 but has made several brief returns over the years. His most recent appearance was in 2016 for ten exits on-screen mum Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor).
Over on a soap fan forum, one wrote: “Following Albie’s AADT diagnosis and learning that Keanu doesn’t have the deficiency to pass on, Sharon comes to conclusion that Phil is Albie’s father.
“This has been speculated for a long while with the paternity test in 2019 being considered untrustworthy. What’s been given, instead, is two negative results that disproves one as the dad, but doesn’t prove the other.
“Is there a reason this has been left open? Why not have Phil get a DNA test when Sam suggested it and prove with 100% certainty that Albie is Phil’s? Are they going to say the hospital got the AADT test wrong and in an added tragic twist, Keanu really was Albie’s dad?”
They went on: “There’s actually room for anything. Later on, a producer can retcon Sharon to have slept with someone else in 2019 and both the DNA and AADT test results would actually fit with that; neither bloke was the father.”
Fans were quick to share their thoughts – with Phil’s brother Grant, being a popular contender. One person said: “I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t my first thought.”
Someone else added: “Yes I wouldn’t put it pass them to retcon the paternity again. 40th anniversary he is revealed as Grant’s after on off-screen reunion leading to his return.”
Someone else added: “Yes I wouldn’t put it pass them to retcon the paternity again.” A third wrote: “To be honest the only other bloke I’ll accept it being is Grant, because despite not seeing it I could believe it.
